I don't want to hijack traffic from this site, but I do want anyone struggling with nicotine addiction to know about resources out there on the Net that could potentially be very helpful.
Basically it is a support board for people that are quitting. Oh, and it's not just for Cigs... Chew, Snuff, Pipes, Cigars... whatever. There are specific forums for chew, etc.
It's a great place to go and work through the addiction. They offer support for multiple methods of quitting including NRT (patch, gum, losenge, etc.) Some sites out there are very prejudiced against NRT, and while I personally went cold-turkey, I can tell you that NRT works for many.
Quitnet worked for me. One thing that they will likely have over this board is a huge following. What this means is that if you are in trouble, you can go there and get immediate help. This is crucial for some people. In fact, they have something of a rule that if you are going to smoke, go there and post for help (with HELP in the subject line) and wait for and read at least three responses before doing anything else. The theory is generally that the craving will pass in that period of time, and that the words of help will get you back to center. It works.
On the other hand, it would be great to have an ongoing discussion\ and support forum here as well. So if there is anything I can help with, my door is always open.

My stats:
807 days, 22 hours, 28 minutes and 39 seconds smoke free.
16159 cigarettes not smoked.
$4,040.00 and 4 months, 3 days, 10 hours of life saved.
Quit date: 11/16/2003 10:00:00 AM
PS: See that money figure? The $4,040.00 saved? I actually take the money and set it aside and use it for "fun" things. Care to guess just how much gear that has bought?
PSS: I have the same username on Quitnet... look me up and send me "QMail" if and when you check it out!

Awesome. Really. Great choice. Let me know how I can help. My best advice... in the early stages read, read, read. Alos stay well hydrated, get your rest, and eat well. Don't neglect these things. They are all stressors. Take care of your body and it'll do good by you.
Congrats!

Hey guys, I signed up too! Two weeks to go... I'm waiting for payday so I can buy the patch. At least I know I'm not alone here...

Congratualations! Very cool. Hey I'd also consider checking the Nevada Tobacco Users' Helpline here:
They also seem to be at: http://www.livingtobaccofree.com/, and that site seems more comprehensive in terms of searching and finding local programs in your state.
Definitely worth a look. They do state: Medication Assistance Program (as funding allows, as indicated), so there may be a rpogram to help with the cost of your NRT after all... if not they may know of other programs in your state that will help.
There's a lot of help out there... congrats on a great choice and let us know if and when we can help in any way!
