Sobriety is a big gift box with a hundred little packages inside to unwrap.

Being open
Sometimes we think we're supposed to have more recovery under our belts. Perhaps we feel the need to impress our peers with our success in staying off mind-altering chemicals. But perhaps we are really just trying to convince ourselves. We know how difficult recovery is, and surely our Higher Power is not fooled by our pretense of well being.
If we try to hide our problems, we cannot get help for them. To get help we must tell people where we're really at. No one can read a closed book.
Am I open with others?

When you were born, you cried and the world rejoiced. Live your life in such a way so that when you die, the world cries and you rejoice.

Grant me the serenity to accept the people I cannot change
The courage to change the one I can
and the wisdom to know it is me.

We don't want to live in the past, but we do need to learn to live comfortably with it.

Building a New Habit
Try this interactive exercise: Fold your arms. Notice which hand is on top, which hand is underneath. Now fold them the other way, with the opposite hands up and down. Does that feel awkward? It is harder to do it in a different way from which you are accustomed, but if you will do it that way every day for 21 days, it can become a new habit for you.
We all have some good habits and some bad habits. It’s not as hard as you think to build new habits and overcome bad ones. All it takes is the knowledge of the good, desire and practice.
Maybe there is something good, something more meaningful, that you would like to make a habit. Seeking truth and seeking behavior that will make life better can become a habit of life. There are few habits that surpass this one.
