I'm an addict and alcoholic named Mike.
I identify with my dis-ease before my name to remind me that before I am Mike, I an addict.
I'm a 40-year drug (pot, shrooms, coke, horse, opium, hash) user with 6 years sobriety. (2276 daze when my head hits the pillow tonight)
I got sober in the rooms of M.A. and attend a regular men's stag in Santa Monica (it is a 45+ year stag group mostly FA [freekin addicts]).
I work in the field of rehab as a Clinical tech at Summit Centers Malibu 3 nights a week and a Prop 36 counselor for the Matrix institute four days a week. Prop 36 is the California program for first and second time non-violent drug offenders. They get to go to counseling 2 to 4 times a week for 6 to 8 months instead of JAIL! A good deal once they see the alternative.
I also sponsor a few men.
All this is good as it constantly reminds me of what it takes for my sobriety.
