hey y'all,
my name is Jim Richardson (no relation that I know of to Jason up there)..
Clean and sober since 5/27/2002. 38 years old, live in Chapel Hill, NC since september-- was in Austin TX for about 20 years preceding that...
Prefer skating ditches; but there aren't hardly any out here.. terrible transition skater, working on my slalom groove, love crusing around, going down hills, banks, parking garages etc... just skateboarding. Never in my life have I so loved and stuck to an activity that i was so incredibly mediocre at ...

Welcome Jim, I too am a proud member of the Mediocre Skate Bros...
But, I do it for the joy of it, not to be a gnar hero! I too love ditches, and can relate to your lament, no ditches here either! Keep coming back and sharing your skating and sobriety/recovery with us...
Roger "Doc".

Greetings!
nukedog here, heard about this forum over at the Bulldogs forum, and thought I'd join up.
I'm 43, been on the magic rollin' board since 1969, always good, never great at it.
I was never much of a drinker, but had a bad drug problem until I got fed up with dealing with scum just to score weed. 13 years clean, Never went back, never wanted to. As far as liquor, it's like poison to me, I get all hot and flushed, dizzy, and have terrible hangovers. Used to drink once or twice a year, but after my last time about a month ago, I decided not to drink at all.
Must be that little bit of Cherokee from my mom's side of the family.
So I'll just stick to skate induced adreneline.

Hi all, Chip here,
I'm like a Chocoholic except for booze - sobriety date 8/27/03. Just started skating a few weeks ago when my 8-year-old-son got his first board. I aspire to some day be mediocre.
I'm a member of AA & attend 4-5 meetings a week.
Just thought I'd say hi.

Welcome aboard Chip!
Don't worry about reaching mediocre, I've been skating since 1969, and I'm already mediocre!
Just skate and enjoy!

Welcome Chip! I agree with Nukedog, I've been skating since the 60's on and off too, and I still am and old has been skater, I don't care if I'm ever "Rad and Gnarly" again. I skate for the fun of it, and because I still can... It's all about fun and freedom and the joy we get out of it!
Roger "Doc".

My name is Sean, I'm 38 years young and trying to stay sober, again.
I started skateing again when my groms got into it about 2 years ago.
It had been 22 years since I was on a board, It's good to be back.
I don't drink every day and try not to drink at all, but when I get stressed out in sometimes happens. I've never been a mean drunk or abusive to my family, I just wish I would'nt go for the beer when things get ruff.
just looking for some support.
Thanks

Welcome Tex Rat
glad to see you here, we are all boarders and most are sober or trying to get and stay that way. Welcome back on the board too
Do you go to meetings or have any kind of program to help you stay sober?
Do you have something for when you "go for the beer when things get ruff. "?
something like the serenity prayer or a positive thought to focus on to keep the old brain bucket from reaching for the "Lonestar"?
feel free to post and ask questions, we are here to help

Ben, sorry to be so late to the party... Welcome Bro. I am back as a newcomer myself once again. I have to remember this disease is cunning, baffling and powerful. Sober for today and grateful...
