Well, I never thought I would end up here, but, I'm Chuck, AKA, Konarider.
Sorry about not being able to post a sobriety date, because I am still in the midst of the battle.
After feeling all warm and fuzy about beating Methadone and Xanax cocktails that was my life for 14 years. (I've been off the clinic for a year and a half.)
I "felt" that drinking a beer or 12 after work and on weekends was my "Reward" for having worked and providing food and housing for my family."
I have decided, with the convicting power of God, that I HAVE to stop...EVERYTHING.
And I LOVE a cold beer.
But, I have come to realize that beer by itself wasn't good enough. Better to be able to do a couple shots of Bourbon along with the beer! (Good thinking huh?)
5 days ago, I decided that for myself, my relationship to my Lord, and to be the best father to my kids, I HAVE to get rid of it.
Just don't exactly know how yet.
I NEVER thought that passing by the Jiffy store that I always stop at to get my beer, and NOT stopping would be so hard.
I have come to realize that I am an alchoholic. It has a control over me.
I want to be sober. Want it with all of my heart.
Well, that's my intro.
By the way I am a veteran skater since '76, never stopped, even with all the junk in my system, I still skated.
Hope you all here have something to offer me, I NEED some help!
Roger, thanks for helping me find my way here.
Chuck

Chuck, welcome Bro. I can relate to your struggles... We are evil twins in more than one way... Brew and bourbon were my weakness too, and throw in some lortab and codine when I could get it. I myself am back at 28 days clean and sober. It took a DUI to wake me up. But, I am alive, clean and sober and thanking God for all the mercy and blessing I have in my life. You deserve the best in life, as does your family. Hang in there, and keep coming back. I'm only a PM away and if you need to talk, PM me and I'll email you my number.
Roger "Doc".

Welcome aboard!
It's not easy, but it can be done.
I've been off booze for about a year, and drugs for 13 years.
The first step is the hardest, hell, none of the steps are easy.
But you always have bro's to lean on.
Stay strong guys!

Since doc started the board. Thought it would be a good idea to introduce myself and get involved.
I've been an East Coast Surfer and Skater since the 70's, sober (this time) since August 2004. I had another stint with sobriety (self induced) in 2001-2002... but I picked up where I left off in April of 2003. It took until August 2004 to get a DWI. Been sober since, and hope to be playing for keeps this time. I was sober a year before I went to my first AA meeting. I get to one a week, and picked up my 2 year chip the first week of August. I've studied the steps as part of an outpatient program, but I need to start working past step 3. I thought maybe getting involved here would help get me over that hump.
I'm having a great time learning to skate transition with my son who is now 10. We've been skating together for a few years now. LOTS of parks popping up in the area, and I'm sober, so life is good.

Damn Doc,
That was quick!
Thanks for the warm welcome.
I like the logo, you got any stickers? My BDS Gashead LB could use a sober skater sticker.

No stickers yet... I'd like to get some stickers, mugs and chips done. Lowcab from over at the BDS Forum did the logo for us...

Doc,
Cafe press will hook you up with stickers and mugs. Not sure where you can get chips, but I think I saw some promotional chips that looked like poker chips in someone's office at work. I'll look into it.

Thanks, let me know. Our Uncle Mike designed chips for lengths of sobriety and recovery using the logo...
